NCCSS Nurses’ Health Care Workshop Provides Valuable Information

The NCCSS sponsored its annual Current Health Care Issues Workshop for Nassau County school district nurses on Nov. 3. The event was hosted by the Charles A. Reinhard Early Childhood Center in the Bellmore UFSD.
The following guest speakers discussed a variety of relevant health issues, including the following:
• Commissioner of Nassau County Department of Health Dr. Lawrence Eisenstein: Legionnaires’ disease, influenza, MRSA, and the treatment of resistant lice and the impact on schools;

• Executive Director at the YES Community Counseling Center Jamie Bogenschutz:
Warning signs and symptoms of drug abuse;

• NCPD Office of Community Affairs Detective Pamela Stark: Drug abuse, opiate/heroin epidemic and synthetic marijuana.
This is the second year the NCCSS has provided a health care workshop available to all Nassau County public school nurses.
